Prepare for launch

Preparations for launching the next TA call are well on their way now. The call will be open 1-31st October, and it’s possible to apply access for summer 2013 and winter 2013/2014 field seasons. For those who are prepared to fast action, it is also possible to apply access for Feb-April 2013 (applicants will be informed about access decisions in January).

It takes relatively many steps to launch the call. We started in June with updates to the on-line application and evaluation system based on user feedback from the previous call. The updates were finished some weeks ago, and are now tested for user-friendliness. TA Board members were contacted last week to establish the time schedule for evaluations, and to set general guidelines for the call.

This week I have worked on PR, planning the promotional material with our graphic designer, putting together the call announcement, and updating our TA call webpages with information related to the call. Things are coming together nicely, so we should be able to launch the call info next week. The aim of this early-promotion campaign is to have applicants register as users to the on-line application system already in September, before the call opening. That would allow more time for applicants to work on their proposals, and also help to avoid the last-minute rush so we would have more time to guide applicants in case questions or problems arise.

Rowan berries are turning red as the autumn is quickly approaching in Oulu.

We at WP4 are looking forward to September with great enthusiasm, as it will not only mark the opening of next TA call coming closer (always exciting to see how many and what kind of applications we receive!) but also the next INTERACT Station Managers’ Forum meeting that will be held in Krkonoše Mountains National Park in Czech Republic. But more about that and other upcoming visits in the future postings!

Until next time!
